TUMBLEWEEDS 2018

There are many bits and pieces of paper that come and go in our lives which are so commonplace that we barely notice them. We toss them away or lose them without a second thought. But when found again, each retains the warm, private mystery of having once belonged to someone who had it for a purpose.

The SCRATCH PADS, each 3.5”x 5.5”x 0.5”, are built from salvaged theatrical papers, amber shellac and steel wire, coated with various paints and lined with India ink.

The CRUMPLED PAPER pieces are made from sheets of copper, each 8.5” x 11”, coated with various paints and tarnishing fluid and lined with India ink.

The SCRATCH (ea.3” x5”), STENO (6” x9”), and CAFÉ (4”x 4”x 4”) pieces are made from salvaged theatrical muslin laminated to aluminum screen, coated with various paints and lined with India ink. CAFÉ materials also include wood, shellac, and a steel nail.
